I installed IE7 on both my laptop and my desktop PC when it was released. While I could right-click on a link on the desktop and get an “Open in New Tab” option, the laptop simply didn’t display the option. After much routing around, and a little Googling, I found a solution.
Most attribute this issue to Google Toolbar - it seems Google Toolbar hooks into a DLL outside of IE7, and so brings up the old IE6 context menu which of course doesn’t have an Open in New Tab option. However, I didn’t have Google Toolbar installed, so that ruled out that as a cause.
The next suggestion is to disable all of your Add-ons in IE7 (Tools menu -> Manage Add-ons). This seems like overkill however, so I selectively disabled what I had until, voilĂ , the Open in New Tab option simply reappeared!
Listed below are the items I disabled - if you have any of these, disable them too and hopefully you should see Open in New Tab return to your right-click content menu in Internet Explorer 7. If you don’t have any of these, keep disabling Add-Ons one by one until the Open in New Tab comes up in the right-click menu.

I have no wisdom to share, just thanks. I have been puzzled by this for a long time and maybe just had the right combination of words in my search this time. I have been trying to find a solution for months. This was the first I had seen yours. Worked like a charm.
Thanks again.
