PC Review: HP Photosmart 7450 (printer)

PC Reviews & Tips Add comments

Our poor old Epson Stylus Colour 600 finally gave up the ghost after many years of faithful service recently. It was slow, it was cumbersome, it was heavy, but it did the job with nary a whimper. Our printing requirements are fairly low, so a replacement model didn’t need to be anything fancy, just something cheap and cheerful.

After a quick look around, I spotted the HP Photosmart 7450 printer going for a steal (around €75). Now, as you know, printers are generally priced low to seem like a bargain, and then they gouge your wallet on the printer cartridges. But all things considered, the spec for the printer is well decent, and it even comes with a built in multi-card reader; this allows you to bung in your SD/XD card direct from your camera and print off pictures without the PC being on.

Its a USB-connected printer, has a decent finish, its quiet and its sleek. And being HP, the software is actually pretty useful, if you choose to use it. If your printer requirements are pretty low (i.e. home use), I would highly recommend this printer.
